Does anybody else think it is time to withdraw from Afghanistan?
All of you who think that chasing down Osama bin Laden, who planned and organized the destruction of the Twin Towers was not enough, please hold up your hands.
Three thousand people died there. About six thousand Americans have died in Afghanistan. That's enough.
We left Vietnam, after having been there too long, too. It turned out pretty well. Neither Iraq nor Afghanistan are interested in becoming the next star on our flag. Even Puerto Rico is not sure. Neither one is interested in becoming a "western" nation. I absolutely hate their attitudes toward women, as I hate it when I see it here, but maybe the women will have to decide whether they can tolerate subservience. It isn't our oil. If Middle Eastern Nations decide they don't want to sell oil to us, that is their business. They will probably decide to take the cash.
I know that withdrawal is not like deciding to return from the grocery store. It will be a mess. But it has to be, and it ought to be soon.
